Inline Skate Spacers
Understanding Inline Skate Spacers
Inline skate wheel spacers are essential components situated between the two bearings in each wheel of your inline skates. They come in varying sizes, specifically 6 mm or 8 mm, so it's important to identify which spacers are compatible with your wheels prior to purchasing replacements. This information is typically found on the wheel itself or your existing spacer.
Investing in high-quality spacers for your inline skates ensures that the bearings remain firmly in place, allowing the wheels to spin freely. Spacers alleviate some of the load from the bearings and minimise friction. They are generally constructed from metal or plastic, but metal, particularly aluminum, is more frequently used due to its durability.
Selecting the Appropriate Inline Skate Spacers
There are two spacer options available: 6 mm or 8 mm. This measurement pertains to the axle diameter, meaning the correct size is dependent upon your axle's dimensions. A spacer measuring 6 mm, also referred to as a long sleeve spacer, is suitable for a 6 mm axle. Similarly, an 8 mm spacer, commonly called a floating spacer, corresponds to an 8 mm axle. For a deeper understanding of the distinct characteristics between these types, please refer to our Spacers Guide.
