Reasons to Buy a Snowboard
Purchasing a snowboard can be an extremely valuable investment if you plan on visiting the mountains often. It allows you to get precisely the type of snowboard you desire. Finding a board with the right length, width, and one that suits your riding style can significantly enhance your snowboarding experience. Additionally, you have the freedom to choose the graphic and design on the snowboard, which is not an option when renting.
Which Snowboard Is Right for Me?
There are 4 snowboard categories to choose from. Each category is designed for different areas of the mountain. There are also kids' snowboards that are appropriately sized.
All Mountain Snowboards
These are ideal for a variety of snow conditions and different terrains. They provide full control and grip while carving on the piste and can handle some off-piste snow at the sides of the slopes. They are also a good choice for beginners and all-rounders.
Freeride Snowboards
Perfectly suited for deep powder but can manage firmer snow conditions as well. They typically have a directional shape for optimal flotation in deep snow. Powder snowboards also fall into this category, due to their similar characteristics.
Splitboards
Splitboard snowboards are designed for off-piste snowboarding in the backcountry. These boards split in half to function as two skis for uphill climbing and reconnect for downhill riding. Special bindings are required, and they should only be used by experienced riders.
Freestyle Snowboards
Also known as park snowboards, these are designed for fun in the snowpark or jibbing on the side of the piste. Another versatile option, similar to all-mountain snowboards. They usually have twin tips and are shorter for a more playful feel.
