Peg vs no pegs: what to choose?
Legendary rider JD Rand uses pegs, while our team rider and box-cut enthusiast Felix Fiilin does not. What will happen if they switch scooters and attempt to grind?
Is it better to ride with pegs or a wide box-cut deck? You might have pondered this question. The answer is: whatever suits you best.
In this versus video, legendary scooter rider JD Randriambelson, aka JD Rand, and our team rider Felix Fiilin try to determine which is better: riding with scooter pegs or going peg-less.
Grind away with pegs
Pegs have revolutionized scootering. They provide stability and endless grind variations, making many tricks easier and enabling some tricks that can't be done without them.
Pegs come in various designs and materials, such as steel, aluminum, or even nylon peg sleeves with a metal core.
Pegs can be used for both street and park riding, and trust us, you'll find that grinds become much easier. You can find our extensive assortment of scooter pegs right here.
Perfect for the street and the park
So why go peg-less? Enter the box-cut deck. Decks like the Tilt Theory Deck are super wide, offering great stability and plenty of grind surface, even on the boxed ends.
If you're into doing Ice Picks and 5.0 grinds, box-cut decks are an ideal choice. It goes without saying that the deck weighs more, but this also means it’s more durable than a “classic” narrow park deck.
Boxed decks are used by both park and street riders but are especially popular among street riders. You can find all our boxed decks right here.
